The goal of this project was to design a visitor’s center in an airport in Costa Rica which created a welcoming, informative, and relaxing space for travelers. The intent of the space was to introduce visitors to Costa Rica’s culture and tourist attractions, assist with travel planning, and provide a comfortable place to eat, drink, and unwind before or between flights.

My design solution balances these functional goals with a cohesive, visually appealing environment. Inspired by Costa Rica’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability, the design incorporates organic elements such as stone, water, and plant life, along with locally sourced wood and a blend of natural and artificial lighting to foster harmony between interior and exterior. Open sight lines and a sculpted ceiling encourage intuitive circulation, while the blend of natural materials with sleek modern forms creates a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.
